Carmela Chase is a Mexican American artist from the San Francisco Bay Area, currently working out of her Mi Vida Creations studio in Oakland, California. She is a self-taught artist who incorporates images from her mixed heritage into her artwork. She is influenced by the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration as well as American pop culture.

I created a special piece for Cirque du Soleil's Kooza. You can find it when you visit the boutique that accompanies the performance or Cirque du Soleil's website. The US premier was in San Francisco on November 16th, 2007 and the show will continue to travel throughout the US, Europe and Australia over the next few years.
